I didn't think you were dissing the car. I was just curious if there's a particular reason you're avoiding the current generation of X5, IF you're avoiding. BTW, Hyndai Tucson sounds like a good vehicle. I bought a '09 Honda CR-V and am regretting it because of quite a few number of mechanical issues that the dealer acknowledges but don't want to figure out how to fix it so told me to drive a little more and see if it goes away. It's my first Honda and I can't say I'm impressed. Maybe Honda is not what it used to be.

You know, I actually felt this phenomenon on numerous occasions but never could tell why it behaved the way it did and just blamed the suspension tuning. I thought I was the only one who have ever felt this since nobody mentioned this before. Doesn't it feel like the springs, on rebound, stretch back much longer than it should, creating almost a springy feel and makes the rear tires go almost up in the air in some circumstances. The rear is where most of this is happening.
So it's the un-sprung weight of tires?

No prob...dropping dough, or big dough on a new car, is a very carefully considered expenditure for retired bums.

The E70 never made me swoon, though I enjoy seeing posters' rides here.

The new X3 is a consideration, but the current cars we have are fine, long paid for, and run well.

Speaking of CR-V, we tossed my CEO's seven year old '03 in for the Hyundai Tucson this past May; that CR-V was our first Honda car, (I have 2 Honda m'cycles which have been jewels), but that CR-V was 3rd world at best. We drove the 2010 CR-V during the hunt for her new car, but it was just ok, and felt/looked like Auntie's grocery getter, imo. Maybe just bad luck, but our '03 had gave us more problems than all my other recent cars have in total.

NEway, I like E70s and the diesel is interesting, but the look is ok, the gizmo count is way up, and the price, with features, is above my personal budget for a new car.
GL, mD

True. When the current fleet is running fine then there's not much incentive to replace the vehicles.

It's really true! Holding one each (RFT vs Traditional) in your hand is an eye opener as far as difference...which shows you how much harder the suspension has to work! You may like the ride with the RFT, but you'll like it better with them off!

I also luv the inflatable side bolsters but more that they deflate to make it easier to exit the car and go right back to inflated at restart.
That's EXCELLENT news! I'll have to check that out. Surely this must be the sign that life is too good ~ When you covet your wife's "memory seat button"
