Replaced 2007 X-5 4.8 With 2011 5.0

Just took delivery of a new X-5 5.0 replacing the wife's 2007 4.8. This is the fifth X-5 she's owned (three E53s 2001 4.4, 2003 4.6, 2005 4.8 and 2007 E70 4.8) and this is by far the best X5. Performance is better, ergonomics are greatly improved and the eight speed transmission is magnificent. Thanks BMW for a great vehicle.

Im curious, why is your wife switching X5s so frequently?

Accidents, leasing or mechanical problems?

Well you have you daily driver(01) and then you need one at your house in the mountains(01) You need to upgrade because the i6 was too slow(01). You are sick of having a black/ silver X which everyone has so you get a Imola Red X(03) to find out that the Imola Red is too flash and settle with a Lemans Blue(05) X Now you are adicted to power so you need to replace you mountain get away X with an 2007. And then your 2005 is warn out after five years. So that is how you buy alot of X5's in a short period of time.

But in all seriousness, congrats on the X. The 50i is an awesome engine. Love the power and exhaust growl. Enjoy.

Did exactly the same thing, replaced 07 X5 4.8 with 5.0i.
I live at over 9600ft, and I have to say the difference between the 4.8 V8 and the 4.4 V8 Twin turbo is astounding. A huge difference in power and acceleration. It must be more apparent due to so much power being robbed at altitude from the normally aspirated 4.8 V8. The 4.4 V8 Twin Turbo is simply the best engine I have ever had in a car.
The sound of the 4.4 Twin Turbo is also fantastic.
The steering feels slightly heavier that the old car when parking (I did not have the active steering on either car). Not a big deal and I only noticed it immediately after handing in my old car. The handling is much more refined ( I had the adaptive drive on both) both with 19inch winter rims or 20" summer rims.
I got the nappa leather and comfort seats, would never go back.
The eight speed tranny is also a significant improvement to the driving experience, it is super slick, almost feels like you are in an F1 car how quickly it slips up and down the range.

None of the above. Just an opportunity for something new and more power. Almost had her convinced to go to an X5M. She also has a 2008 135i Convert and I have a 2010 M6.

Congrats! I've owned no fewer than six X5s so I understand just enjoying trading up.
