anyone had their x5 stuck on snow before?
just wondering though, is it bad for the car in any way to bottom out like that and all the weight was on the bottom chassis of the car? yeah i was driving with all seasons but i don't think winters would've made a difference, right? since the snow was so deep it lifted the car. |

numerous times!! there are some air deflectors which get broken (rubber) but other than that I have seen no ill effects.

Plastic parts can get broken and wiring pulled loose.
I'd get it up on a lift and look for broken and loose items. Probably leave it in a heated garage to thaw out a bit first lol

I guess it is the same as on the X3. They are located in front of both the front and rear tires. http://www.dragtimes.com/images/18595-2009-BMW-X3.jpg
I replaced one when I bought my used car. A month later I hit a bad bump on unpaved road with three passengers. I almost bottomed out the suspension and broke both deflectors in the back. Another $25 and I guess the will break easily if driving through deep snow. We'll see this winter ![]() |

No damage is likely to have happened to the undercarriage from sitting there on the snow. It was resting on the snow, but the weight was spread out over a very large area, so there is a resulting low ground pressure. Damage can happen from the forward motion into the snow bank, if your speed was high enough.
