True. I kept thinking it was like the one in the 7 series with individual monitors behind the headrest. It is not. That's pretty lame.

If you have the active headrests, you can no longer do headrest mounts, ipads are a good option or BMW sells aftermarket dual monitors that mount to the back of the seats made by invision that work pretty well. Just be glad you don't have the factory system as it is stooopid the way it was designed!

Negatives:
1) you have to buy 2 iPads + the brackets so you are already at the amount of the factory DVD
2) just like aftermarket radios, etc, you have 2 iPads sitting out in plain daylight for someone to steal (say the wife takes the kids somewhere and forgets to take them off)
3) you could say that you could then use the iPads for the kids at home anyways but then you get into do you want your kids having them at what age, etc

Positives:
1) Flexibility of having the iPad so they can do other things besides watch movies

I ordered 2 brackets for the Ipad. I already own one Ipad, i'm just going to go buy another one , so it doesn't look retarded with only one playing in the rear.

Please provide me the contact info, where you purchased these brackets for the iPad. We have 2 iPads, and I would LOVE to have these seat brackets. Thanks a lot!!

Also, the Range Rover has the DVD players built into the headrests. They look great and the picture and sound quality is really great...but a pain in the A** to use!!

Thanks, I cannot wait to order these brackets!!

^ that's certainly a concern... I mean you'd have to remove the ipads AND the brackets, much like thieves breaking into your car because your GPS unit mount is visible. Score one for built-ins NAVs.

With strapping and unstrapping 2 kids, plus bringing all their gear, that's the last thing I want to have to do in addition, unless I'm doing 3 hour trips all the time.

I don't plan on leaving them on there all the time. Only when we go for a prolonged drive. My original plan was just to get the headrest replacements that already come with the monitors. But with active headrests, that seems not to be an option.
