What is your engine idle speed?

Without A/C On: ??

With A/C On: ??

Mine:
without: 550 rpm
with: 850 - 900 rpm

I'm asking because with the A/C On, the slow speed dynamics of the car change - the idle speed is high, and the car surges and requires excessive brake force while in normal stop and go traffic. Very difficult to modulate the brakes to make a smooth noseless-dive stop.

With the A/C OFF, it drives normally and I'm very happy with the slow speed dynamics. I've driven a few late model 3 Series that did NOT exhibit this and I'm wondering if this is specific to the X5 E70 - as my '04 E53 did NOT exhibit this at all. Asked dealer, but their response is: "idle speed set by engine management - we have no adjustments" Nice cop out.
