additional badging is good for at least three hp. kinda like a CAI.
now if you want your X to go extra special fast............. De-Badge. that is the shizzle right there now.

I wouldn't add an M badge to a base model myself, but there are lots of M Sport versions around, including of the X3, since about 2005. They get M badges on each wheel, the door sills, the dead pedal, the steering wheel, the gearshift knob, the instrument panel...etc, as well as some aero mods. Other models beyond the X3 get M Sport suspensions, and so on.
M stands for marketing, not magic, IMO.

I have M Wheels on my 35d, and was self conscious about it, but the M logo in the center is so small and inconspicuous that I didn't feel like too big a poser, and the wheels looks really, really good.

I de-badged my E70 M and my M Sport; each picked up at least 100HP.

I don't get the fake badging either. De-badging is fine imo, but not adding fake ones. I am also fine with adding M parts to a non-M car that have the badge on it, such as wheels.
///M brand is going to be as watered down as AMG soon. I wish they would have reserved the ///M brand for cars and left the top performing SAV models with the "is" designation. Even as good as the X5/X6M are. ///M isn't just for marketing though because all true ///M cars are better performers than the standard version, but technically, I guess you can say ///M has somewhat stood for marketing since the e30 ended production.

I got some ///M badges for free as a promo when I ordered some parts from a vendor. I put one on my daughter's twist car and the rest went in the garbage. How was I to know it could add horsepower?

I don't see the point of fake badging, but then I don't really see the point of people posting and being bothered by it either.
I took the "K75S" badge off of my motorcycle and replaced with a "Frigidaire" badge when I bought a new fridge for the Kitchen. If people ask, I remind them that GM owned Frigidaire until 1979 and there was a sharing of technology back then. |

My 2007 X3 sports came with factory M badges on the wheels, door sills, and steering wheel.

I am actually looking to add a letter "D" (for diesel) after the "X5" on the tailgate... How come they show "d" as small letter on the door, and not on the back... I am proud of diesel engine, and I want other drivers to know that too... How will this fly with purists ?
