Rear M sport bumper retrofit?

I'm in the process of getting an black 08 3.0si....plan on getting the ugly plastic bumpers painted when I do.

Was wondering if anyone has retrofit the rear bumper with the m sport style. The bumper ends up wrapping around the quarter panel a little higher and subsequently, the rear fender flare seems to start higher on the quarter panel. Anyone know if it will require modification or will it be a direct "plug & play"?

there are oem m sport bumpers. u can ask your dealer for a price quote. but i bet it's expensive. the complete m sport kit for pre-LCI is like $4000+ on ebay.

you can try the aero kit for the rear only. I think that's cheaper

if you get the m sport bumper, then you have to get the m sport rear arches as well, but I agree it looks much nicer with the cheap plastic bumpers painted

What ever you decide have in mind that rear and front bumpers of the M sport kit do not fit in anyway with the running boards.... in fact I am not sure they fit without the running boards either .. i wanted to fit the rear bumper 2 years ago but couldn't because of the running boards...

^ - That sucks. Guess I will just be painting the ones on there now. Anyway, got my X5 today! 08 3.0si BSM/Tobacco. Already have so many ideas for mods in mind, but will just get to know the car for the first month or so before I start. If anyone has new/like new black floormats let me know, because I need some asap! I got some OEM rubber ones with the car, but there aren't made for the X5 and are really slippery.

I know this is an old post. I dont understand what the running boards would have to do with the rear bumper?? I am looking to retrofit a ture X5m rear bumper on my LCI with running boards.. It appears all I need to do is add the M flares? I thought they work fine with the running boards? Can anyone confirm this???

^^ Thats not mine, I just pulled the picture off the Canadian autotrader . I have the aero kit, you can get it for around $825 from Morristown BMW, then you have to pay for paint and install
