Dead battery again

This is the 2nd time my car battery died on me. The first time was when I went to pick up my new X5 at the dealership and the 2nd time was today. I had to call BMW Assist and get someone to come and jump start my car. I'm very frustrated because my car is only 5 weeks old. I got to call service tomorrow and get my car checked out.

Sorry for not listing more info on my car. Here's the info.

2011 X5 Sport
Cold weather package
Convenience package
Technology Package
Comfort Access
Head Up Display
Heated Rear Seats
Smartphone integration
Premium Hi-fi
Satellite Radio
Running Boards
20" wheels
Nappa leather Seats/Dash and console.

Sorry to hear that. A little more info like year and options may help others chime in.

Even though it is disgusting and so frustrating, every weekend, usually on a Sunday afternoon to a Monday morning, I hook my 2011 X5 up to a BMW trickle charger / battery maintainer! Both my 2007 and 2008 E70s had mad battery issues, beginning within a week or so of ownership. I've had my 2011 one month, almost 1000 miles...and flawless. Sadly, A LOT of E70s have battery issues and battery charging issues. While it sucks, try my weekly battery charging. Knock on wood, but seems like I have tricked the E70 curse I just feel like I jinxed myself for saying this LOL

Also, when I know I will not be driving the car for more than a day, and it is just sitting in the garage, I lock the car. This seems to better keep the car in "sleep mode".

And, as odd as this sounds...keep the keys far away from the car. The key and car can "talk" to each other, and prevent or delay the car going to sleep. The dealer told me 30-50 feet or more is best. We now keep our car keys in the kitchen, which is about 150 feet from the garage. Annoying when you get to the garage, and forget to get the car key, but this has made a difference in our last 3 BMWs.

I've got an '08 and have never had any battery issues even after letting it sit for 2 weeks, so I don't think it's an inherent problem.

I've had my CPO 07X5 for two months now. No issues at all.

I did have high battery drain with my 06 550. The problem was with the comfort access module and the door handles. They charged me for a battery first and the reset (program) of the battery with my idrive. I went armed with info from the E60 forum and told them it wasn't the battery. They said replacing the battery was the first step. Well, the next morning the battery was dead again. PISSED I took it back the next morning and gave them a printout of those things to check. They decided two days later it was the comfort access module that wasn't allowing the car to sleep. It thought the doors were still open. Having paid hundreds for the battery, the SA fixed a lot of minor things they were going to charge me for before, like the front window molding, repair to my passenger set, etc. He also waived the $50 deductible.

Do a search. It's a weak spot on the E70. At least yours could be jump-started.

One of the crazy things I've heard on the E60 forum was, SA to owner: You need to drive your car every day and long enough for the battery to be recharged. If you're only driving 5 or so miles every other day, it's not enough to charge the battery.

I know people have had problems, but my personal experience has been good in the 2+ years I've had the X. I think if you lock your car when not in use, either keep the key far away or skip comfort access as an option, it holds up fairly well.

I put on about 5000 miles a year on the car and very often drive it under 5 miles. I also commonly leave it garaged for weeks at a time. Sometimes even a month without driving. No issues at all. I purchased a charger from my dealer thinking I would need it but still haven't even taken it out of the box yet.
