Sunroof Problem and Noisy Startup
Hello,
I am currently experiencing some issues with my 07 X5. I got an error that said Sunroof Trap Malfunction. I was able to reset it by holding the button in, but now the one-touch does not work. 1.) Is there a key sequence to resolve this? 2.) I got an error message intermittently that says Oil Level Sensory Fault. Anyone seen this? 3.) On really cold mornings, the X5 sounds like a diesel. It is a loud knocking sound. I took it into the dealer and of course they could not replicate it. Anyone had this issue before? Thanks, - Brent

I have the knocking sound sometimes on a cold start, however after driving around, it goes away. You need to start the car cold after it sits there for a while.

Never had the knocking sound, really. I mean all engines have to struggle a bit upon a cold start in 25 degree weather. Maybe it's just your imagination and/or it's just "cold start symptoms"?

Thanks for the follow up. I made a recording of it and am going to take it into the dealer on Monday morning.
I was able to figure out the sunroof thing. Apparently you have to hold the sunroof button up for the whole time until it goes up, back, and then forward again. All in all, it was about a 2 minute process.

With the engine running? Sometime the auto features are disabled on accessory power. My shade has auto open and auto close. One firm press and passengers marvel at the thing slowly revealing the sky above. The actual sunroof opening isn't as impressive.

Or maybe some secret government assault vehicle that auto opens and a huge turret comes out of the top.

yup, I got the msg once and have done a reset, but keep an eye on the moonroof as a whole... mine eventually had a broken clip that made the wind deflector (bracket with the netting) snap against the base everytime it opened and closed... they tried to "fix" it twice and eventually _replaced_ it and a few other parts with warranty.
