Engine Malfunction warning on X5 35i!

I got the dreaded "Malfunction Warning, Reduced Power" message on the X5 this past Saturday. First thing that came to my mind was... "oh sh1t, hope it's not the fuel pump!"

The warning went away and stayed away after I turned off the engine for 30 mins.

Went to the dealer this morning to have the code read and they said that the valvetronic servomotor got stuck. They tested it out and it was still within spec so nothing was replaced except for a reprogram. Glad it wasn't a HPFP issue for the N55

I had that happen 3 times on my E92. Turned out to be a voltage issue that fried a bunch of stuff.

How exactly does a dealer actually "test" this to see if it is in spec????

This is what they have on the paperwork:

"Engine malfunction mess is on. Checked fault memory. Valvetronic servomotor not moving. Fault stored. Performed testplan. Passed function test. Checked wiring. Found 0.2 ohms inside the coils for motor. This is good. Cleared fault memory. Performed valvetronic stop adaptation procedure to correct fault. Diag code D1130-000000-05-901 and Diag code D1130-B0000000-01-901.
