Gopoint GL1 diagnostic tool

Has anyone used this diagnostic tool on your X5?

It looks as though it can enhance the basis OBD code readers, and may give us access to some gauges that we do not have on our dashboard.

Gl1-OBD Reader-GoLink for iphone | GoPoint Technology

For $100 and your iPhone, it may be a must have upgrade?

If it decodes the BMW specific error codes, I'd buy it. Peake is consistently recommended due to it's ability to give the BMW specific text, as opposed to the generic OBD code.

And it seems MUCH MORE that a basic scanner, from looking at the App. It will all depend on if it works with BMW.

I spent a few seconds looking there, but there is nothing there close to an 'application guide' or 'compatibility info'... really, really annoying.

Many scanners can provide the same data real-time when plugged into the OBD-II port, e.g., coolant temperature, Mass Air Flow, Engine RPM, etc. It appears the real differentiation of the goLINK is that it provides a nice graphical representation of the data, rather than the pure number scanners and data loggers provide.

If you are interested in this data and have no need for real-time display, there is something called a carchip which you plug into the OBD-II port and it saves hours of this data for downloading to your PC at a later time.

Anyone Tried the GoPoint Cable

Does this work as advertised?
Looks like a great option.

Thanks,
John
