RR's look like they are about 20 years old.

I don't see myself ever sitting behind the steering wheel of the RR. Ugly looking car.

These comparisons on dedicated forums are of limited value, as most of the people on the forum are already owners of the subject of the forum or are strongly considering it. Take a cruise over to any of the other forums if you haven't already. Here's an example, comparing the ML350 (not even a contender here) to the X5.
Mercedes Ml350 compared to BMW X5 - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum That said, these discussions do tell us more about the negatives in the competitor forums (ie you can find out more about what's not so good about the X5 by looking in other forums). I shopped the MDX v X5 while still an owner of the original ML320. Did not even consider the MB owing to poor dealership experience and that I didn't care for the new look, a little too soccer-mommy. But I came real close to getting the MDX, until I looked at the OTD on both, which were not that far apart (owing to incentives and discounts on X5). Then there was that marshmallow thing. The MDX definitely felt more like a van than a car (and it IS based on the Odyssey). Finally, I couldn't tell if I could put up with looking at that MDX face day after day after day. I even tried convincing myself that I was getting used to it, but no go. Who knows how many sales Acura has lost due to the beak. |

drove Q7 and it is not as driver oriented or road connected as x5 without sport.
driveability of x5 is superior and looks...q7 looks too stretched out with rear overhanging, x5 looks most aggressive and sporty. look is a biased opinion but there are a lot of factors that testing team contradict themselves in description of others.

+1 on LED overdose by Audi....now every trashcan ride has those line LED's all over. time for Benz S-class to remove them

The S-Class was one of the most beautiful, elegant and timeless big sedans on the road. Now with the front "look at me, I have them too" LED driving lights, it looks tacky and cheap. I do not mind them on the C-Class or GL-Class, I actually like it (looks pretty good on the E-Class too...since it came with them from day one). The LEDs on the S-Class look SO out of place and really cheesy & cheap!!

And I think the Q5s looks better than Q7s.

Yea, I agree with that. The Q7 just looks like a big boat. Its got weird overhang. Never looks very stable.

I'm sure that the steering effort in the redesign X5 will be significantly lighter, partly because it'll almost certainly be electric assist. The current X3 and 5er now have the more "crowd-pleasing" light, electric steering, so that complaint will be short-lived.
I wouldn't buy the Q7 because it's frankly hideous, LEDs or no. If I wanted a full-sized truck, I'd buy a Range Rover. Comfortable and luxurious inside, with a nice diesel engine to boot. |
