If I understand it correctly - it's inner. The one that located on tailgate.
I looked briefly and I think I need to take off tailgate cover first to get to the bulb, but i did not see any screws there. Am I wrong ??

Thanks for help.

Assuming it is the LED lights the whole unit will be have to be replaced. I recall reading about this recently but I can't recall if it was on Xoutpost or bimmerfest.
It is held in by a tensioner, there is just one nut that needs to be loosened. The gasket that held mine in was double stich and it took some muscle to get it out.

LED light ? On 2007 ? Are u sure ? My car is still on warranty, so I can go to the dealer, but I thought it's just a bulb ...no ?

Either way if it is under warranty, and the dealer is not far away...just go there! Yes, those "strips" are LED on the 2007-2011 E70. If that is burned out...it will cost you at a minumum of about $150.00.

Just go to the dealer, take advantage of factory warranty.

Thanks guys. Yes, the dealer is not far away, but i thought I could save some time and replace just a bulb. I think it's not as simple as I thought.
Damb light...$150....good for dealer. They make nice profit out of BMW.

I'd like to know how to change it too, but you're under full coverage so just hit the dealer since it's not that simple. Other vehicles have screws on the taillight housing... I'm guessing you have to open this from the trunk area.

It is actually pretty easy but if it is under warranty it is a no brainer!
