998M is on a distinguished road
I had mine professional installed. Having done it in several other cars myself, it is a pain. The module is under the dash. Drivers side by your left knee. With the switch just above the CPU port. Wires go thru the firewall (not sure where since I didn't install it) and down the drivers side to the front. I had the receivers mounted a little lower because it fit a little better. The higher spot was more difficult to find a place to attach it. Not to mention they are a little less obvious. But no loss in function. The rears are on either side of the license plate. The passengers side is tight because of the camera. The wires are double sided taped under the lip and run into the license plate light. From there they go through the rubber grommet on the drivers side (see picture). IMPORTANT. Make sure to put the grommet back in completely! Water drains from the sunroof just above that grommet. If not installed properly, the waters runs down into all the computers in the drivers side fender. Cost to replace = $3,000. Ask me how I know. Another good reason not to do it yourself is that you have someone else to blame when something goes completely wrong. Ultimately it was decided that it was BMWs fault because they left the grommet out when they were fixing the rear camera. BMW stepped up without batting an eye and fixed everything. But don't leave out that grommet.

Noodles, I see you are in WI. I am in Milwaukee. PM if you want to know more.
