I am in the same boat lads! Bought a 2008 x5 4.8, with whole shebang! Can't seem to get enough of it, and neither can the wifey.
Just love it. And totally aggree on the sport option but I probably couldn't do without the premium sound and iPod connect either.
So lovely! Bimmers are for drivers while Lexus are for passengers!
Cheers!

Congrats on the purchase!

You can still get the Sport look (exterior at least), by getting the arched fender flares and a set of 214's in the aftermarket. Swap out the current tires and put winter rubber on it for snow duty!

If I wanted to ride on a cloud, and feel like I was navigating a yacht, I would be driving an Escalade or a Navigator. BMW's beg for performance oriented driving.

An X5 MSport on 19s is certainly no cloud and I don't want that either but I test drove an X5 MSport with 20s and it was noticeably more firm. I already have super firm with the Z4 so the X5 is a welcomed difference.

PS: I partake in the performance oriented driving with the X5 almost daily. Especially given any opportunity on an on ramp or twisty road.

I think I can buy 214s from BMW for a "paltry" 6 grand....shoot me now..where can I find em AM on the cheap.....love that idea (inclusive of fender flares) but then not sure how nice it'll look in winter with the non staggered 19s installed. hmmmm

OP, welcome! And if I may be so bold, I highly recommend you trade that G35 for a 335. Sure, it is more expensive, but you will know what you're paying for when you're driving it. Just be sure to get it with all the toys

Congrats! Excellent decision. Welcome to one of the best boards online

Consider getting the replica 20's that are from the x6m. They look great and are available on ebay. A few members here have done them and they look great. Also you can get away with no flares I believe on these wheels. I too do not like the idea of wearing my winter shoes with flares....
