I'm messing with you. I've seen these up close on my last trip to NY. They clip on the I side of the hatch , so they are locked on to the vehicle. At least the ones I saw. There are all kinds of variations. Most just look like the fender protectors we use when working on cars.

I got a grill guard for exactly this reason. Plus the newbie valet drivers that don't realize that you need to shift up to put the car in reverse. I've seen a valet drive forward and hit the wall with my car when he thought he was backing up. (good thing he wasn't going fast and my grill guard prevented damage. Grill guard was scratched a little but I guess that's what it's there for)

Weasel will become famous soon enough
You could always get bumper spikes or the spiked license plate frames... to hell with the other guys bumper, why give him a nice padded surface that simply invites him to use as a parking aid!

I got the bumper bully but have only used it once in Brooklyn. I just don't drive it out there as the real option. It's a couple of hanging straps, and can easily be messed with, but I'm not gonna go strap on a full-bumper kind of thing. I'm mostly concerned about the aero kit.

I've driven all 3 of my X's to NYC many many times over the years.

I always park in the same garage on 54th st. never even had a ding and I put a trailer hitch and ball on the car.
