For iPod or USB stick connectivity, you need the 6FL option (center console USB port), or an aftermarket kit. They should work in iDrives for all E70s (started around '06) but upgrading to new iDrive SW is recommended for bug fixes, etc. Aftermarket kits are specific to the model and iDrive generation. Album cover art is only possible with the Oct '10 builds or newer. The glovebox USB started with the latest HD based iDrive only, and is for importing music, not iPod/USB connectivity.

Richard is right indeed - I would just add one feature that the USB in the glove compartment adds as well, and which is nice: It is powered, so whatever is connected there can be charged - great for connecting your phone (for instance) while its connected via bluetooth, if you already have in ipod in the other socket.

Kloogy - Not sure if you're asking a question, but I've been able to charge both the iPhone (3GS) and the iPod from the glove compartment USB.
If you were just stating how you listen to music... then please ignore this msg. |

I love the bluetooth streaming function; I can get out of the car after listening to music with my phone in my pocket and it comes right back on once I return.
HOWEVER, I keep having to go into the phone/bluetooth configuration menu and checking the audio checkbox in order to stream music via bluetooth. Anyone else having this problem and/or know how to fix it? |
