What is your actual MPG?
If this is normal, then great! |

What X5 do you drive? I'd guess it's the 5.0, based on the MPG you're getting, but still, can you confirm?

Nope, I have the 3.5i. That is why I think its weird. I'm getting worst mpg than my v8 Range Rover.

I have the 'd', so I can't help with actual comparisons. But I bet the next questions someone that is in the know will ask is how many miles are on the car? They seem to consume more gas at the beginning.
I know that my 35d is getting somewhat lower mileage than what people have posted here, but now that it's past the 1000 mile mark, it seems to be doing better. Also - it's strange that your math and the on-board computer are so different. I wonder if anyone has experience with that. Lastly, I assume you are filling it with Premium. Lower octane will yield lower MPGs.... Sorry I can't be of more help. Surely someone will chime in very soon. Cheers! |

Thanks for the help Newtoav! I actually only have less than 600 miles so I suppose I should watch it for a bit longer then. I am definently putting in Premium, the car only deserves at least that!

I have a 35i, with only 1200 miles, I am averaging 16 mpg city, 17 mpg freeway. It isn't close to the combined 21 mpg sticker. And I drive like a grandpa usually 60-65mph on freeways and 40 mph on local streets.

oh wow. i was really expecting around 20 since the spec is 23. i usually do half highway half street. that's going to suck if it eats up gas like my e90 ///m3. i got the 35i as well. i should be getting mine next week.

I have a 2011 X5 35i / 4500 miles and consistently get 21.7 MPG with 60/40 City/Highway driving.
I purchased the car on a Monday with nothing but delivery miles on it and that Thursday took a trip from Chicago to Eden Prairie, MN and averaged over 26 MPG, both computer and hand calculated! I drive pretty conservatively, but do get on it every once and a while, and have no troubles getting out into traffic on the expressway...
