Retrofit heated rear seats

As title states, has anyone ever attempted to have it done? I know, rear heated seats come as an additional option from the factory and can't be retrofitted at a dealer. I have a basic cold-weather package and no rear heated seats. this winter we'd been going to ski up in the mountains and a couple of friends, incidentally, riding in the back, mentioned it (I wonder why...). Thanks, guys, for any feedback.

Sure it can be done, but it is very expensive to go OE. BMW sell replacement seat covers with the heating elements sewn in. $$$$. Labour involves recovering the seats, adding the wiring harness, etc.

Aftermarket solutions are available.

Lots of threads on this, including experiences of others who have do it. Do a search on heated seat retrofit. Here is one post on the subject, not specific to the E70 (but the concepts are similar)

And here is one specific to the E70:

thank you, JCL, for the useful links. I did try to search but, for some reason, it did not produce the results I was looking for.

If you live in the Northeast , why didn't you get this option. I live in Southern Cal, and I got it.

I have the cold weather package that comes standard with the front heated seats and the steering wheel heating, not the rear. rear heated seats is an option one needs to choose when ordering a car new. I bought mine two-year old.
