Thanks for all the encouragement.

Well I am just a lowly IT Director with oversight over enterprise architecture who hasn't actually logged into a UNIX system (at least as root) in many years but you are mainly correct in that RTFM is always a good start.

I personally don't like the feature despite it's usefulness at times. It makes it look like one light is busted. Much like the Audis with their fancy bright white LEDs - when you flip the turn signal on, one side goes completely off and you're left with a small blinking yellow. It frankly looks retarded. I am guessing you can't change that, whereas on the X5, you can take it off the auto mode which will kill the turning fogs.

That reminds me.. I never did call to activate my BMW Assist. I kind of assumed the dealer took care of it, but I got a letter around Christmas reminding me to activate it. I keep meaning to do it..

What sort of questions do they ask and how long does it take?

Whistle And the answer is.....

Adaptive headlights

Its part of what i paid 250 uk pounds for as an option

As you turn a corner it aims the headlights 'around' the corner and the single fog light wil give extra light towards the corner that you are driving into

I never did get mine activated. It was free for the first year, but they wanted a credit card as part of completing the agreement, and I declined to give them one since I despise contracts with automatic renewal, purely on principle. I never understood why BMW assist was any better than having a cell phone in the glove box.

I just push the button for both to come on when driving at night. Didn't read the manual at all. I thought joining a Bimmer enthusiasts we could help each other out guess not.
