Seat Question - Sport Pkg Seats vs Sport Pkg Seats with Multi-Contour

All,

If I order an X5 I’m definitely going with the sport pkg in order to get the dark headliner, sport steering wheel and 20” rims. One other feature I noticed was the sport seats with the larger thigh bolsters. I finally got to sit in the sport seats in an X5 and my impressions are as such…they offer great support for spirited driving and are comfortable by providing a “hugging” feeling. However, I really didn’t like how high the bolster is in this SUV application and I envision the leather getting destroyed from legs rubbing on it when getting in and out. I have high bolster sport seats in my GT500 and just really don’t need them in my SUV.

In looking at the other options on the sport pkg, it looks like I have access to the multi contour seats for an additional sum of $900. In playing with the online builder, it looks like the multi contour seats addition changes the sport seats to having the lower thigh bolsters and thus I won’t have the rubbing/potential wear problem. Can anyone with first-hand knowledge confirm or deny this? I unfortunately have not been able to find an X5 to sit in with the multi contour seats. I was on the fence on this feature but if it changes the sport seats to not having huge bolsters, then I’m onboard.

Thank you!

The multi contour seats are the best $900 you can spend on the X5.

They would be easier to get in and out of, yet still provide plenty of lateral support. Beside the adjustable upper back, the coolest feature is the adjustable back bolsters. You can squeeze them in real tight for driving. As soon as the X5 is shut off, they release, for ease of exit. Once you restart, they tighten back up.

They are also extremely comfortable and supportive for long drives. 8 hours was an easy trip.

multi-contour seats are by far my favorite part of the x5. also go the ventilated package and really enjoy the active seat feature (didn't think I would at first).

The wifes 2011 X5 has been at the dealer for 38 days now. So the loaner was a 535 w/ regular seats. I finally got pissed and called the dealer ship and said I need a X5 as a loner. It has std sport seats. Now my 550 has Multi-comfort seats and so that is does wifes X5. It is amazing on how much better the comfort seats are. Spend the $900 and you will never regret it. that is like $15 bucks more on your payment. I will never purchase a BMW without the Mulit-comfort seats.

That would be my opinion as well...Affinity for MC seats has been expressed across most X boards I've frequented..

I agree with everything posted above but will say I'm exactly 6' tall and the multicontour seats still have bolsters on the sides of the bottom cushion that makes it difficult to get over when getting into the car. You still have to slide across them a bit which I'm sure will begin to cause wear over time. If you are shorter the problem is compounded, FYI. Now, once you are in them, they are great.

The multi contour seats are the best seats I've been in. They are one of the many things I am happiest about with the X5.

With the electronics, I am able to adjust the seat completely to my liking - for longer more comfortable journey's (i.e. room and comfort) or for shorter, sportier jaunts (i.e. securement).

Not only are they extremely comfortable, the lumbar can be adjusted not just in depth but vertically as well. The head rest is electronically adjustable and easy to get just right. The side bolsters, which are adjustable electronically, are absolutely brilliant. And for us longer legged folks, the front of the bottom of the seat can be extended.

To me, this is one of the best options I could've went for.

+1 I'm 6'5" and find the seats a "must have" for those who are taller/bigger.

When I first test drove an X5, I was surprised how uncomfortable the sport seats were because of my size, so I asked the CA about different seats. He told me I couldn't get multi-contour seats in the vehicle unless I got the sport package and 20" wheels.

Amazing how uninformed some of these people are. I don't care if you're selling Kia's or Aston Martins - know your product inside and out.

I agree with the above. Both my 2004 and 2005 X5's had Sport Seats but my 2007 has the comfort/ventilated seating and I don't know how I ever lived without these comfort seats

The multi-countour are WAY better that just plain sport seats. I used to have sport seats on my 08 4.8i, but multi-contour on MY 11 is SO MUCH BETTER.
