Help! Squeaking sound | Drives me insane!

This annoying squeaking noise coming from the back/tailgate area of my 2011 X5d and drives me absolutely crazy! It sounds like some plastic parts under stress. Please listen to a short clip (attached) I recorded on my iphone. If you have any clue what that might be, please let me know! Thank you!

I have just noticed that SAME sound in the last week coming from my 2011 X5 35i. Haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

I had this problem too, which got fixed!

Take out your cargo cover, and see if the noise goes away. If it does, then use thin strips of felt tape on the bottom part of the latching area of the cover - that is where it makes noise!

Could also be the latches on the tailgate or bottom half of the tailgate. Mine were squeaking and had to be adjusted. Still makes a bit of a crack at times, but not the terrible squeak. Can't seem to get it 100% quiet though, nor can I get the door quiet either (been carbo-flo'd many times).

Happened to me and I gave up....

Had been to BMW workshop couple of times, every time they fix it, it comes back after one week.
First they fixed the tail gate – not solved, then they said it could be the latches n they replaced some parts – not solved, then they removed cargo cover – not solved.
Now I got used to it as the sound is not terrible and its not all the time. Dealer wanted me to have this inspected by BMW service engineer who comes once in a while to the dealer, I felt it waste of time to pursue so I stopped.
Had Honda CRV and MDX before and never had this problem. This is my first BMW and can’t believe 60 K vehicle has such a problem which cannot be fixed But I appreciate my dealer in trying to solve the issue.

All my previous Hondas were squeaking nightmares...

Same thing on mine. Took it off for a week then put it back in, the creaking never came back. Truly a WTF moment.
