Newbie here looking for advice on 07 4.8i

Hi there

So I am in the quest of searching for a 2007 4.8i and understand the concerns/issues on the 1st Gen E70s.

I have located a few and found a clean low miles CPO'd til 100k and Services til 8/11. Its out of state (Texas) but looks like it has all the things I am looking at (Nav, Weather Pkg, 3rd row, running boards) except the 20" wheels. I love the look of the 214s and wondered if they are hard to come by. I have seen a set of wheels only on Ebay selling for $2300!

Any feedback will be well appreciated. Hope to pull the trigger soon.

Remember, CPO does not mean the car was never hit, was never in a flood, etc, etc.

Cool, sounds like it was a 'prior CPO'.

If you get close, maybe post up a thread for any locals that could do a 'driveby' for you... if it looks good you proceed. PPI at the 'sellers dealership' can be iffy...indeed I am not a fan of 'dealer ppi', but surely better than nothing. Do keep in mind that there is no such thing as a "BMW PPI"..every dealer has a different description. I recommend they do the "CPO inspection" using the paper, published CPO checklist and ADD to it a dump of the DME for any errors or over-revs. (The latter more of an issue on sports cars and manual trannies)

Great! I have my sister who lives in Plano (about 10 miles from the seller). She is living town tomorrow in business trip til next week. I prefer someone who knows a little bit more as my sister might just be there to make the transaction more legit (she is not a car person). So I might need your help if thats OK. I greatly appreciate it

Ok well I am near downtown Dallas and Plano is pretty far (rush hour commute is heavier heading from downtown going north) so as long as the seller is south of Plano I should be ok to check it out. What city are they in ?

Ok I looked it up that is way up north even north of Plano--that's an hour from me (with no traffic). If it was remotely close I would go check it out. You might, as ard suggested, post on here for someone who might live close by there. Also post on the e53 board as well.
