Help ~ 09 x5 4.8 or '10 x5 3.0

So, I own an AW X5 2010 3.0 which I really like, problem is the dealer is a friend of mine and they just got a 2009 X5 4.8 w/ similar mileage....

Should I keep my X5 or trade it in for the V8?

Do you need the V8? A lot of people here will tell you to get a V8 cause it's a fun car to drive, I don't doubt that, I agree. But depending on how much you care about gas mileage. If that isn't an issue, then go for it. But if your X5 is problem free, make sure the other X5 is problem free as well.

agree, but the v8 is definitely more fun when you get on the gas

They have an 09 x4 4.8i...then he just let me know they will need $5K from me...

I think I am going to wait a couple years and trade it in for a 5.0...

Boy, I can definitely relate. I debated long and hard when I was ordering my '08 X5 (do I spend close to $7k extra to get a similarly equipped 4.8i version or not) and ultimately decided to go with the 3.0si well loaded build with the justification that I was saving money on price and eventually gas. Even though I couldn't be happier with the X5 3.0si I have now, the notion of regret (for not ponying up for the 4.8i when I had the chance) continually haunts me especially when I need to dig in for that extra oomph in merging or passing.

Like you, i've debated trading up for CPO'ed similar year and equipment 4.8i version or even going with a brand new V8 model long and hard but I ultimatley found peace in knowing I can wait it out and get the biggest engine when I'm finally ready to trade her in.

Your thoughts are exactly my feeling.

I talked to the wife and she said, "I love my X5" that is all she needed to say...I'm going to wait and get a Cayenne in a couple years..
