I have had enough sport package v. non sport BMW's and am 99.9% positive their sport package is more than cosmetic. It's a shame you live in Canada as I have a non sport 3.0si that I just put 21in style 215's on. I would gladly pay to park both X's side by side and pay for the swap. IMO, all I am missing is the stiffer suspension. Good luck keeping th mrs happy... It's a full time job for me.

Here in Australia the M-Sport Package definitely includes Sport suspension.

Actually M Sport Pack has Adaptive Drive.

OP: as mentioned, definitely check your tire pressure--a porter at the dealer last time I was in put mine at 38 instead of 32. Other than that, it just makes economical sense to ride these tires until they need to be replaced and go with non-RFT.

Thanks, all. The 3M rock guard was poorly done so I'm going to have them check tire pressure when the vehicle goes back in next week. Going to stick with the run-flats for now.

Turns out our friends (S 550/ML 500 owners and Benz loyalists) were planting seeds of doubt in my wife's ear. I know the ride with M sport suspension is going to be a little more firm but I don't think it's bad whatsoever. Tossed her the keys and told her to drive it. She gets it now. Driving is believing. But she did say she is picking the next car. She likes the F10 550 but that's a couple years away so she might as well enjoy the X5.

Appreciate the insights.

Better to check the tyre pressures yourself. Buy yourself a decent tyre-pressure gauge. They aren't expensive.

I had an X5 with sport suspension and it was brutal for me. As others have noted, the base suspension is firm compared to other SUVs. Non-runflats is a good idea and has helped my non-sport quite a bit. I no longer feel every little bump. But as others have said, BMWs are pretty firm and won't give the softer ride of Mercedes, Acura, or Lexus.
