+1. JB is a softer paint so it "can" show marks but if you know how to take care of black cars, wash them carefully, etc it's not a problem. I had JB on my '01 X5 for 9 years and again on my current--love the clarity and shine.

I have a new X5 35i in Carbon Black. What's the trick to taking care of black cars? Please share or refer me. Until now I've always had silver cars. Thanks.

Well for any car in the upper price ranges we pay I think it makes sense to take care of it properly (maintenance, washing, etc)---but to each their own-- some don't really care nor have the time so it's all personal preference. But just as starting points: never take it to an automatic wash, don't ever let the dealer wash it, hand wash it yourself using quality microfiber towels to dry, good wash soap, keeping it waxed, etc. You can search the Detailing Forum-- there is a ton of info on there.

Aren't there indoor car wash places there ?

I grew up in Chicago but have been in Dallas for 17 years since college now but I know what you mean. If I lived back up there (which I will not ha) no way would I get a decent car--the winters, crammed parallel parking, etc.
