Battery is death and DVD Changer malfunction

Hi,

Last weekend my battery die on my 07 X5 with no warnings, when I tried to start it there was a lot of malfunctions display on my screen, I did jump start it ok, then I noticed no volume on my satellite radio, I can see the stations display but no volume, at the same time no GPS display on the screen, I removed the DVD disc and insert it again and nothing happen.
Sunday the XM radio work ok, but no GPS, I decided to take it to the dealer on Monday, my SA pulled the records from the truck and told me that due to short rides the battery won't charge enough and he recommend me to put it on a charger... I was like WTF?
Anyway, he called me later that day to let me now they check the battery and found no issues and they erase all the bad codes, but, they found the DVD changer was defective and they replace it with a new one (weird?).

I don't know what it takes to replace the DVD changer but, I know my unit has a small scratch in the front of the DVD and the same scratch was there. The next day the GPS map was gone, I removed the DVD and tried to insert it and did not go inside, like if something was blocking it. I went back to the dealer this morning and the comment from my SA "wow, 2 defective DVD units?".

Please let em know if some one had the same problems and what was teh solution.

Thanks

I assume that the scratch was on the plastic bezel piece on the front of the DVD player. That piece is a separate part that sets in front of the DVD player which is in a metal chassis. The front plastic bezel would not have been changed just the metal box part behind it.

X5 battery is known to have issues. A common explanation (by the dealer, that is) is that when the vehicle is in a SLEEP mode, some electronic devices are still running. In your case, it could be the DVD changer. Did the dealer change your battery for a new one? They should. If the vehicle is still under warranty, it is worth the effort to ask them again.

They replace the new installed DVD with another one, so I had 2 bad DVD players, my SA can not explain why.
No, I asked about the battery to be replace and my SA said that the check the battery and it was ok but, in my next maintenance (brakes) he will try to change it since my BMW warranty will end in October of this year.
