LCI tail light retrofit

Has anyone done this lately? I've searched and only found very few members that have done this. Is this really not a popular mod? Maybe because a costly subtle upgrade?

I'm really interested in doing this, but worry about the coding issue...

Any suggestion would help (experience, learnings, etc). Thank you!!

u can buy a set from ebay, then go to dealer to re-code your car and install them. but call dealer first just to make sure. it's like $600-700 though.

They can be purchased for between $600 and $700 and coding will cost about $150. I would say you can easily double that if you have a dealer do it. It is an easy diy.

thanks marshotel! i'm real concerned that if I get the coding done, it may get wiped away by accident for any dealer recalls, software upgrades, etc.

maybe it's just a matter of reminding them that there is coding for the LCIs everytime the car needs to be serviced...

Even without the coding they work fine. It took me a couple of months to get them coded after I did the mod. I probably would have passed on the coding but the wife was fixated on that little tiny exclamation point.

did the dealer say anything about voiding warranty by upgrading to the LCI tails? does the dealer coding void warranty?

so basically after the big explamation during engine startup, the small exclamation is tiny enough that can be ignored? does it flash or anything?
million thanks again

Ne mention of voided warranty but I didn't ask. I would imagine, however, that any issue direct attributable to the light swap would not be covered. It is a tiny exclamation point and it doesn't flash......easily ignored in my opinion.

It is actually a very easy mod. It's a good way to freshen up the look of your car in my opinion. I just waited until I had to bring it in for service to had it re-coded so I didn't have to make any extra trips to teh dealership.
