e53 4.8is or e70 4.8i?

Looking to get into a X5 and I'm torn between the e53 4.8is or e70 4.8i. Driving the 4.8is gives you the sense your in something special while the e70 is no doubt more modern.

Any thoughts on reliability (or any other reason) I should select one over the other?

I had the 4.8is and was way more fun to drive than a 4.8 E70 IMO

Price.. What can you afford? If you can, go for the E70.

Could afford either but like to minimize wasted cash in depreciation and maintenance costs in order to support my bad habit of buying cars!

i had an 06 4.8 for 2 yrs hooked up with a bunch of mods looks and engine , without getting into it , my wife had a 2009 e70 3.0 and i preferred driving the e70 over the e53 any day of the week , even with the lack of power

my 0.02 cemts get the e70

was faced with a similar choice, loved the e53 but got a great deal on the E70 and happy with the choice
