M sport Steeringwheel mount on E70
I have ordered a M Sport steeringwheel with heating and F1 gearshift. Is there anyone here that done this DYI on an E70? Offcourse its got an automatic transmission and heating originaly. Is it possible to get the gearshift working?:-) On my Z4 there was only 2 simple cabels to connect. Thanks!!

I did this as well (not DIY, though due to the airbag), and ... surprise... in my 50i LCI the paddles actually work.

Might the airbag be the same between the M Sport wheel (that I have) and the X6 or X6 M wheels?

Yahoo! Got the wheel today. Brandnew:-) I would really try this myselv. Is that true that this is impossible to DYI? Any special tools or why?
Will take pictures! Here's the wheel:

Ha! This is just like the E53! There is just one spring on each side to press inn. There's 2 hidden holes on the back. I tried to take a picture if it.
It looks really straight forward, so I'm trying this myself tomorrow. Yes, I will disconnect the battery before removing the airbag:-)

Hi, since your car has the heating circuits, could you do me a favor and measure the voltage of the black wire of the heating connector in the wheel (which is connected to the yellow wire coming from the car)
- with engine and heating off, - with engine on and heating off, - engine and heating on? You can measure it against the brown (=white coming from car) wire, which is ground (GND). Thanks, Thomas PS: I see your wheel has no "M" key, so it's not for an M... what part number is that? Is this a wheel for the X6? Last edited by Wienaren; 05-28-2011 at 07:03 PM. |
