Oyster leather after my Dealership Visit

So we all know the benefits and cons of black leather vs. light leather.

If I would have had black leather, I would not have seen this (yet it would have been left & unnoticed and transferred to my clothing).

Light leather shows much more, but then you do end up keeping your leather clean & moisturized, since you well....have to.

Normally I am very, very easy and forgiving at the dealership, but I had to turn this in to my SA and the Manager.

This is what I had to clean off my Oyster leather driver's seat and center console arm rest when my car was delivered to me yesteday. Obviously some A-hole technician or porter had filthy pants and arms when they worked on & drove my car. SO not ok!!!

That is really bad. Hopefully someone is doing something to make up for it.

We ordered Sand Beige for our new X5. I won't lie that I am a little nervous about it (all my cars have had black or brown leather) but it just looked so much better.... We love oyster too but man that must be a lot of work.

I had choice of Oyster or Black in my 35d - they were in-stock vehicles; and I loved look of Oyster but went with Black for ease of care. We have the beige in our 325i and it's been rough to keep it and the carpet and door panels clean.

But that stinks to have that happen, hopefully it cleaned up OK.

Did it wipe off without leaving any damage?

Wiped off, no damage...but took 15-20 mins!

Oyster is MUCH, MUCH easier to keep clean than Sand Beige. With Oyster, the carpets, door panels, skid plates and contrast trim pieces are BLACK. Also, rear and sides of seats are black too. Sand Beige is sand beige EVERYWHERE. Never, never Sand Beige for me. SO much work.

Normally I spend like 30 seconds a week, wiping down my Oyster leather with some Mother's or Lexol leather cleaner. So far, I've found the Oyster to be easier than all black!

Black is nice to hide dirt, but when the goal is to keep it clean, being able to see what you're doing is a huge benefit.

+1000%!

Especially with children. Black, black, black everywhere feet will touch. I had sand beige for 7y and the backs of the seats and the carpet between my two rubber mats in the back were the nastiest part of the car. I could never get them clean. My oyster has been cake!
