Hmmm, my 10/2010 build X35d of course didn't have them, but now I have to have both headlight assemblies replaced and wondering if I might be lucky enough to get the new headlights. Apparently there are issues with the turn signal bulb holders....

Broken turn signal bulb holder. There is also 2 guide contacts that slip into the bulb assembly and one of those broke off. It shouldn't be that hard to replace a bulb...the access to them is a pain. Granted I had tried multiple times to take the bulb out and put in but really don't believe a dealer visit is required to change a bulb (although it is covered under warranty).

I couldn't get replacement left bulb to install and then when I finally did it wouldn't light up. Tried to remove it and the whole assembly that holds the bulb in got stuck and wouldn't come out.

Service ordered a replacement bulb holder for left side but then called back and said BMW wanted both head light assemblies; apparently there might be a manufacturing issues hence the reason for wanting both back.

While I hold out for my dream wish of getting the new LED corona's of the 2012 I'm sure I'll get the old style put back in. Parts were overnighted and should be here today and installed today.

Mine 2011 35d got the old ones and now I am crazy pissed about all new x5s around. Any info how dificult it is to swap headlights for newer ones? Or maybe there is an aftermarket upgrade to old shitty yellows?

Got car back, took them 2 days to program it after the headlight install - programming kept failing (apparently).

So I got the same style lights, not the LED's. The cost of the replacement headlights was $1,195 a piece plus 2.5 hours of labor per side...all on BMW's dime thankfully.

I imagine if you were able to replace the headlights with newer style you'd probably need a reprogramming since this seemed to be a big hangup for mine.

FWIW - If you are going to put in replacement LED bulbs just be real careful.
