For anyone experiencing squeaking noise on a 2011

The squeak is not caused by the window… it's caused by the door frame ( where the rubber on top of the window frame hits the grooves ( insuring an air tight seal)… the problem with this is that BMW has used cheap swade and rubber that gets sticky…the solution is to wax the top of the door frame thoroughly including the rubber on the top of the door. I discovered this as I was washing my car on Friday. I noticed a black rubbery line on the top of the door frame. I cleaned and waxed it and wallla... No more squeaking. As for the tailgate rattle for any X5... Try wrapping it a couple times with the black vinyl tape on the hinges were the bottom tailgate clamps and where the top half meets the bottom half. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding this issue.

I have noticed that if I lower my window a little bit, the noise stops... which would make me believe its not the trim. I waxed the trim and made the noise stop for only a day.

I brought my 2011 in 2 weeks ago to have them fix the squeaky window and referenced the TSB I found online (SIB 51 28 1). The dealer said that was indeed the fix but they had to order the parts. I got a call from the dealer last week saying the "paste" was in. I have my appointment tomorrow.

If it is a paste of some kind, I hope they tell me what is is or give me the tube so I can fix it later down the road when it inevitably wear off.
