Godamn Reverse Camera!

I had a failure on the reverse camera a few weeks ago. They diagnosed faulty camera unit. So new one was fitted together with updating of software.

It is barely a few weeks after repair and have only used the car a few times but the camera has stopped working again!

I have the car booked in 2 weeks from now. Any ideas on what else it could be or am I just unlucky enough to have a faulty brand new replacement?

Are you having a 4 x 4 error? My camera failed with that error, they had to replace my steering wheel stack (houses the turnsignal lever). It was very strange but that fixed it.

probably just a bad luck...we haven't had any problems with our reverse camera at all.

sorry for O/T: have you done any mods on your X5 recently? I've recently order a set of Aero kit for our X5, how much did you pay for installation and painting?

The aero kit was done some time ago. I had both aero kit and flared wheelarches done at same time by Brisbane BMW - I think installation only was about $550.

At first they qouted near $1k but I talked to the service guy with BMWs own installation guide to hand for aero kit and flares which also stated the time taken for a competent dealer. He quickly revised his figures!

As for painting I took elswhere as was cheaper. This was around $320.

In all I think i got everything incl parts, painting and fitting for less than the RRP of the aero kit.

Thanks so much! I should be receiving the kit next week, will post photos once it has been painted and installed. Thinking to install it myself once I get the panel beater to paint them, I've read the instructions shouldn't be hard to fit it...just a few nuts and bolts here and there.

do you still drive your X much? I've seen you around in 1-addict oz forum...

My reverse and side view cameras are sometimes blacked out with no errors. It used to be infrequent but is now a sometimes daily occurance.

I had a problem with my rear camera; screen kept going into yellow and blue screen. Took them a while to figure it out but they finally got it. They had to replace the cable from the idrve to the camera.

If I was a betting man, I'd say the odds are low that it was a faulty replacement...and the odds are high that it was a faulty DIAGNOSIS, or faulty installation.
