Anyone change out their body side molding on E70?

Was thinking of replacing the black side molding with painted, as I think it looks better.
I saw this post and was wondering if the E70 is removed/installed the same way?

I painted everything including the door moldings..if you get a good body shop you should have no issues, but they will need to paint them on the car. If you take the ones off any try put them back on it bends very easy.

Here is a pic of mine after I had it done. Replaced it with X5M molding, had it painted and installed and debadged as well. The paintable molding is different from the factory crappy black textured molding. It is lower profile and as mentioned above, primered already and smooth.

Had it done by a local body shop that I trust. I believe they charged me $250 which included the labor to remove the old ones, clean the surfaces on the door, paint the new ones and install.

I don't have the part numbers off hand but if you want to verify, you can call the local BMW parts dept. near you and ask them for it. I asked for the part numbers from them and actually ordered it via getbmwparts.com for a significant discount. The parts cost online was around $200 if I remember correctly, the dealership wanted $400 plus $400 in labor to paint and install. I'm in it for around $450-500 total.

I think the tint was either 15% or 20%...whatever was the darkest offered besides limo/5%. It isn't as dark as it looks in the picture above. In this picture, you can see that it is actually not bad when inside the car looking out. If you look through the windshield, you can actually see through it quite well. This pic also gives you a bit closer view of the trim (and my new matched kidney grills and black chrome wheels!). Good luck and post some pictures if you get it done.
