Nice posting of the history so a prospective buyer can find it if they google it. Its wierd, I haven't had any issues like that with my diesel.
So far: 1 Peeling steering trim (replaced under warranty) 2 DVD drive reading intermittently, replaced under warranty 3 Burnt out trunk light, replaced under warrany. What are you doing to your cars Ard?

The issues were more of an annoyance than 'stranded on the road' kind of problems... I'm a big proponent of diesel, and the BMW diesel is a proven drivetrain. But stuff happens..happened. I've got a 2012 35d inbound in the next week, virtually identical.
It's my wifes car and she isn't nutty about cars- so it didn't get us too twisted up. (In fact my posture in talking with the dealer resulted in their supporting the claim from their side...if this doesnt happen, it can be tough sledding.) Indeed, the only reason we did it was the deal was too good to turn down. The old car needed new tires too! She surely doesn't beat on the car- I'd be surprised if she's driven WOT more then 3 times. If I had to lay blame, it was crappy BMW software and poor 'aftersales support' (ie PUMA or whatever)... Frankly, I'd consider buying the car at auction! A |

Always wondered if ours was sold again. How did you find your old vehicle for sale?

Google the vin....
Amazing how many people never do that. Although more and more online car sales venues are not freely posting the vin to make it impossible for Google to index the vin (they make you click on a link, decode an image, to display it) Dying to find out if the title was washed, or if someone willingly bought a lemon branded title for $47k! |

Good on you for starting the thread. I feel sorry for whichever new person bought the car, but just a little bit of due diligence would have saved them future headache. Services like CARFAX are invaluable, but some folks don't want to spend the $40, which boggles the mind when considering a $50k vehicle.

Agreed, though I think we'll all agree that lemons are far less than the norm. In this case, the new owner should be shot and will be regretting this for a long time to come, but a regular car's carfax is still one of the best investments you can make. Just from reading the service history alone, you can tell if it's been in an accident that went unreported, water damage, etc.
It's sad to see that someone is spending good money on your lemon though. |
