Good enough for me! I'll probably never own a BMW gasser, but nice to know nonetheless...

There are many things that BMW sells that are simply rebranded. I'm sure other manufacturers do this, but once one figures out who the supplier is, often he/she can save some money by skipping the dealer markup.

Valeo is the wiper blade supplier from the factory (although dealers do not carry this; Trico is the cheaper, US dealer replacement)

For the M54 engine, Bosch makes the oil filter.

Chevron makes the Fuel Cleaner in the US.

Castrol supplies the motor oil in the US.

I'm still trying to figure out which US supplier sells the coolant.

Well good to know and I'll pick some up.

Dealer finally experienced the issue though. Others have also mentioned it could be the fuel pump (did the low pressure FP recall in January) or filter. Switching the system on and waiting before actually cranking (ie. working on the 2nd time, etc.) may correct this - which may show fuel filter/pressure to be at fault. Anyone know if these E70s have a built-in "bypass" for it in case filters are clogged (at which point the filter may not be the prob)?

What's the lifespan on these filters? I run the tank near empty more often than not (usually don't drive far and sometimes too lazy). Maybe that "myth" about the crud on the bottom of the tank causing trouble is true.

We'll have to see what they find Monday.

I think fuel filters are more of lifetime filters and normally doesn't need servicing.

I was about to ask if you hear a low whining noise at all. That would be one of the warning signs for a fuel pump. Just from your description, it sounds like fuel not making it to the engine. A dead battery would have just given you clicks or a really slow slow crank.

not so glad this vehicle experienced another issue so soon. I'm reading those solenoids are supposed to be 10+ years. I'm so glad I didn't buy a Honda... cause then I'd have no excuse.

They also replaced some moonroof parts with my wind deflector issue... says there's a new kit now. *shrug*

rh71,

Mine is much the same age of yours. I guess you're going to be shopping for "BMW Maintenance Program Upgrade" soon too? I need to find that thread so I can see where I should purchase from...
