You guys are comparing an all-season tire to a strictly summer performance run-flat--that's apples to oranges--we all know those will last longer than a RFT. And some of us have 3rd row seats which have no spare tire so RFT is the best option.

no, i'm comparing a sensible & practical approach to tires vs.............. well whatever ya'll think summer tires on a SAV add to the performance of a 5000 pound truck.

and the grip on the toyos is comparable to any summer tire out there..................... and they still grip like that below 30 degrrees F

but the Toyos just aren't as pretty as those summer tires.........................

You think that your 2nd line all seasons with a compound hard enough to last 48,000 miles perform the same as a performance summer tire? And that they perform the same below freezing?

Well, obviously something is amiss with the OP's 'front end': alignment, suspension, tire pressure, etc. I don't recall reading about any car that got ~7k miles on tires, in anything resembling 'normal driving practices'. I recall Boxster PCars getting less than 10k miles on their rear tires...

The OP, who obviously has the Charlie Brown black cloud hovering over him, based on his previous threads, should do the 'usual' dlr push stuff to get his situ rectified, imo.

RFTs, non-RFTs, 180 rated summer/auto cross tires...doesn't matter; 7k wear out on front tires, on an X, (or any street car), is bs, and one would think BMW could find the cause/cure.

in the context of a 5000 pound vehicle.... yes JCL i do believe that. have you had the pleasure of sliding a X5 thru a sweeper with Toyos on it? i know, i know i've heard you say it before.... if you are going to slide something thru a sweeper you will drive your M5.

well this is my work truck here and other than the weight handicap i can run with any 3 / 5 series on any given day. on Toyo ProXes ST II XLs.

and i will get close to 50K miles out of them to boot.

granted what your frozen tundra ass calls below freezing is nowhere near what we here call below freezing. truthfully if the temperature is below 25 degrees F most of us just stay home.

Vancouver BC, home of the frozen tundra, with an annual average temperature of 10 C (50 F), and 3 C (38 F) in January, our coldest month.

No M5 here.

Glad your X5 can run with the 3 and 5 series.

my point was that the Toyos are a very impressive tire. i have driven a lap or two on race rubber and in my opinion ......... the Toyos are as good as any summer performance tire and as such a viable replacement for the OP.

let's face it, nobody here drives their X5 at 10 10ths on summer rubber and even if they could the difference in performance would be negligible.

I was 10/10ths on a few turns and at least 8/10ths on the 315 others on the Tail of the Dragon. I want to do a driving school with the X5 just to say I've done one but haven't had the chance.

Haven't driven Toyo All Season tires but for reference on my favorite off ramp, The OEM Bridgestone Dueller RFT summer tires see about 63-65 mph before squealing, and Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows get to 58-60 mph.
EDIT: Both sets are the 19" M Sport (255/50x19 front and 285/45x19 rear.
