Need Help with IPOD/ USB Socket

Dear Forum members,

I have a 2008 BMW X-5 3.0i and I am having a lot of problem with attaching my iphone to the car. It all started when a few days ago, a "black plastic part" fell out of the USB socket in the center console. I have attached a picture of the part. Itis less than 1cm and has black stripes on one side. It seems to be one of the side panels of the USB socket as my usb function stopped functioning after that.. The aux cable still works and I can play songs from the iphone directly. But I cant see the songs name on the screen like I used to. Also, I cannot play any songs from a thumb drive like before.

Kindly let me know if there is a way to fix this proble. Is there a way to replace/repair the usb socket. If someoe can tell me how to get to the usb socket, it will be a great help( a picture by picture DIY would be highly appreciated). I dont want to take the car to the dealer for this since I am out of warranty and dont want to pay for this. Waiting for your replies. Thanks
