Burger Motor Sports JBD not one negative experience

I have been torturing myself for about a week now. After speaking with Burger and messages/posts from you guys still not one negative experience. So, if anyone has any other comments to add please do so. Probably pull the trigger on this Monday! Thanks

Not negative but caveat

I have had the JBD for 4 or 5 months. It is easy to install but getting the little white spacer in and out of the jack is tricky. I may buy a spare.

The X5d is much sportier and it has not hurt the mileage.

I uninstalled it before a service appointment but I failed to insert the plug into the jack all the way. I had a big yellow message about General Engine Failure or something.

Then I tried the tool to clear codes, but that did not help and I just got more confused and frustrated. I had to cancel the appointment.

Finally I emailed Terry and he figured it out right away.

JBD

So, overall would you order it again? Can you feel a big difference?

Don't have any personal experience since I'm not a 'tuner' but there was a guy who posted a video after installing the juice box and it sounded like his transmission was crunching.

I've got my JBD for almost 4 months and no issues what so ever.. feels more sporty, stronger and quicker!! but I think gas mileage suffered (drive 90%city and 10% hwy) and only getting 20mpg/// after further analysis the issue was isolated to MY HEAVY LEAD foot
today, going to work a 335i wanted to play around, long stretch of the hwy , throwed the stick in DS and let the JBD do its magic...the 335I had a hard time catching up ..then my exit came and shut it down..

Get it..won't be disappointing...

Stupid question... I assume this will void any warranty if I install this?

You can't void warranty. But anything that the dealer feels is caused by the tune (as a consequence of it having been installed) will not be covered. They can also enter that information in the service record so a future dealer will see it. Manufacturers are getting better and better at detecting that a tune has been installed, whether or not you remove the visible evidence prior to visiting the shop. The prudent approach is to assume that if you have damage caused by the tune, you will be paying for it yourself.

Fixed.

Hey, odds are low- and worst case it's probably under $15-20k

A

PS Precisely correct that you cannot "Void" the warranty- but many confuse the term 'void' for 'we will not cover'.

Tons of people are running this mod with no issues. Dyno results are significant and well documented. There is a diesel enthusiast section over @ Bimmerfest and more BT discussion @ N54tech. Seeing as the OP was in October of last year, it would be interesting to hear if Paulk1 installed the JBD and what his impressions are now. I am quite satisfied with mine.

ard - I agree with your edits.

I also agree with bluetec that there are lots of people running this and similar tunes that haven't had problems. That doesn't help timeslip if he goes ahead with it and has an otherwise warrantable issue, as determined by his dealer, though. As the stock market advisors like to say, past results are no guarantee of future performance. It is a risk that people should take with their eyes open, and not think that because they plan to remove the device before servicing that they are somehow safe from warranty impacts.
