Just made this adjustment. Thx for these great directions. I was able to adjust the bump stop without loosening the lock nut. So far seems much quieter.
Do you think I need to tighten the lock nut or just leave it? |

Def good advice. Weird this is that I was able to adjust w/o loosening. Maybe why the tailgate rattled a bit.... going to make sure no further adjustments are needed and lock it up!

So had my car in for servicing and had one of the electric boot lifters replaced under AUC warranty as it failed last weekend (had been making a grinding noise for a week before that). I mentioned the rattle to them and they wouldn't adjust it as that's 'not covered under the AUC warranty' apparently. Pretty surprised they couldn't take 5 mins to adjust this particularly given they'd replaced the lifter (must have been a 5 minute job itself but took them two days
).Have just followed the procedure in the guide posted here and it has made a massive difference. Still get a little clunk now and then particularly pulling on to my driveway. I unwound the screws 1.5 turns as I didn't want to overdo it and leave the latch under too much pressure. Should I adjust further or do I need to look at the lower section to get it completely silent?
