Discount Tire shop installation quality

Hi all, just wanted to know if any of you have replace your tires with Discount Tire?

I checked both tirerack.com and Discounttire.com and both price came out about the same after installation on the Conti DWS tires.

With tirerack.com I will have to find a local tire shop that's recommended by them. In this case it's my local BMW dealer in Bellevue, WA. I don't know if dealer will be able to install the tires better or not but they do charge a lot more than discount tire.

I have never used Discount Tire so any input or review would be appreciated.
TIA!

I've never dealt with Discount tire. I have dealt with Tire Rack and have always been happy with them. I have never had an isue with vibrations or obvious install errors.

I had a problem with rims that did not clear my calipers. They arranged the return and worked with me on picking new rims. They also expedited shipping out the new rims. I would recommend tirerack without reservtion.

Bought a set of non-RFTs for the Vette, at Discount tire in Greenville,SC a few years ago: they let me watch closely, they knew how to 'lift' the car, they were meticulous with the TPMs, balance was very good, etc. Very good job by that specific shop.

Thanks y'all for all your input. I have made the decision to go with Discount Tire. $1188 with tax and installation. I think it's a pretty good price. Thanks again!

Quick side question, Is there a special way to balance the 20"s? Special balance machine? or is it just a regular wheel balance machine that places like costco have. Reason why is I had my tires balanced at costco any now they seem to have a slight shimmy @ 55-60. Any tips?

I find that the name on the building is of ZERO consequence... it is the skill of the ONE guy touching your wheels.

Discount is fine, I think here in CA they are AmericasTire. I've bought tires there and had them mount. Twits, however, refused to work on one car becuase it had 'dangerous spacers on it'.. (3mm...the width of this letter: O )

I now use ONE guy at a Big O Tire. I schedule around him, unless it is one of the crappy cars (MDX, Truck, X5)

I highly recommend the Hunter 9700 "Road Force" balancing machine. This matches the balance with the 'compliance variation' of the tire itself.

Discount Tire is only called Americas Tire in the Los Angeles area I believe. Here in San Diego it is called Discount Tire.
