Just found a fellow BMW CCA Member in the DC Metro Area that did some feature coding on my 2007 E70 X5: http://youtu.be/ZnaUBYCGHRk

There is a guy of craigslist that does it in vancouver. If you have all the equipment, i can dig up all my notes of when i did it and help you out. been a while though.

Coding E70

There's a member here on this forum - TRIPL_O - who did both mine and my wife's X5s remotely just a week ago. Exceptionally professional, simple and smooth process over the phone and internet. Even sent me a loaner cable. Though I decided to purchase one my self so I would always have it handy if some new coding was needed.
I'm am relatively geeky my self, but my time is far too valuable than to start learning the coding from scratch and in the process possibly jeopardize our brand new 2012 and 2013 X5s.
The cost is far more than reasonable and in hindsight I wouldn't have done it any other way.
If you've got any questions just hit me up and I'll try to answer.
Cheers!
H

that's funny, that's who actually pm'd me
glad to see the process was painless
i've seen my E46 coded before and looked simple enough but your definitely right in regards to not wanting to mess anything up so i'll probably do exactly what you did and have TRIPL_O code mine remotely to then i'll purchase a cable incase i want to add anything else

it was a bit intimidating at first but you get the hang of it. and plus, if you make a back up of your stock settings, it's a simple copy and paste =)

TRIPL_O did my coding. I can recommend his work.

Then I purchased LCI tail lights and I wanted more coding done.

So I purchased the cable and got myself trained on using it and the software. I'm very experienced with computers but less so with cars. The learning curve was steeper than expected but I can do it all now.

I tried virtual machines under Windows 8 and under Windows 7. Didn't work under Windows 8 and way too much trouble under Windows 7. With a lot of effort, managed to add Win XP to my Win 8 laptop. Then all good. Make sure to use Win XP to keep things simple...

Oh, and my E70 X5 is in the dealer shop right now; they are trying to resolve a DSC fault error and have even connected to BMW NA now for diagnostics. I know they've done software update so all my changes are probably gone. I'll be ready to redo them when I get my car back...
