Ipod adapter w/ rear seat entertainment HELP!

I have a 08 4.8 and it has the rear entertainment package. I recently took it to the dealer to have the iPod adapter installed. After three days at the dealer, they said it won't work because I have the rear entertainment package. Basically the rear entertainment plugs into the CD changer, so if you remove the CD changer for the iPod adapter, you kill the rear entertainment too.

Question is
(a) is this true?
(b) from what I can tell the only reason the rear entertainment plugs into the cd changer is so you can play the DVD audio through the car speakers. If thats the case, can you unplug the rear entertainment from the CD changer and just hear the audio through headphones. Then kill the CD changer for the iPod adapter?

I've taken this question to the dealer.. of course no luck with an answer
