VIA stamp on wheels - replica?

The seller swears the wheels were bought from a BMW dealer, and even promises to produce a receipt, but upon inspection I couldn't find 'BMW' stamped anywhere on the back of the spokes. Along with ET and other numbers there was a stamp of 'VIA', which google showed as some Japanese (?) certification.

The wheels (X6M 300 design) however have 74 front/72.5 rear hub bore sizes, which kinda makes me think it's possible they are OEM.

I don't think they are genuine. The genuine wheels have last 7 digits of BMW's part # RealOEM.com * BMW E70 X5 M BMW alloy wheel, M Double Spoke 300

It does say "BMW" above the part #.

Check the rear of of genuine 300M wheels in my thread here.

Post a picture of the face the wheel. You can spot a fake from OEM immediately by the slight differences in the design and color.

Is that a double layer of 8 wheel weights?

Never a good sign....

Unfortunately, you have fakes.
The machined finish is too shiny, the painted portions are too dark, and the center lug area doesn't look as substantial as the real ones. Hope you didn't pay anymore than $800 for the wheel set, as they're not worth any more than that.

$800 is the new replica price for wheel set. If it just the wheels, the used replicas are probably not more than $500.

But how does one know that THOSE wheels were the ones purchased with THAT receipt?

Some real scumbags selling parts these days... just sayin'.... people tend to view others through the prism of their own integrity/circumstance, and that can be a problem.

yeah the lugnuts area going outward reveals a difference. The smaller holes next to them aren't present either. Unless that's a 20 vs 21" rim - not sure how they technically make them larger.

BTW, I recall the older OEMs didn't say BMW on them either... it had Mexico or something?
