Loud whirling fan noise...

I did a search on this and I can't find a solution to this.
I was driving back one day and a loud fan whirling noise came on. It sounded like the fan was on super high speed. I turned off the car and started back up, it took only a second before the loud fan sound came on again. I waited 2 days without driving it and it's still there. It's really loud that I'm afraid to drive it down the street.
I opened the hood and It's coming from the fan I think.
I'm not sure what to do, should I call BMW assist and have the car towed. Driving it would be embarrassing cause it sounds like it's about to blow.
Thanks, much help needed.

If it's under warranty, yes take it in.
If not, shoot a short video and post it here. That's the best way to communicate your issue. Text never translates like video!

I'll try and post a video of the loud whirling noise. It's still under warranty but not sure if i'm able to drive it in.

Well let's start with the basics. What year is it? What size motor? how many miles? And so on.

Its under warranty, and there are no warning lights or other messages... Just drive it to a dealer, why all the drama?

I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. It was caused by a non working wate pump. I suggest you have it towed to the dealer.

It's been FOUR DAYS!!!!

I am just speechless.... is this your first car??? Absolutely mind boggling.

Here:

1. Open glove box.
2. Open manual.
3. Read section on what to do if you have any problem.
4. Call the 800 number.
5. Explain the problem.
6a. If they say it is OK to drive, drive it to the dealer.
6b. If they say 'don't drive it', tell them to send a tow truck.
7. Wait for the BMW service adviser to call you back after the car has been checked at the dealer.

Thanks for the info. It's my 3rd car but my first BMW. My first two cars didn't have any roadside assistant program.

I know it's been 4 days. I left nyc for personal reasons and I just got back so I didn't need to drive while I was gone.
