Considering 2012 X5 V6 (FL): Is this a good deal?

I did exactly just that for my recent order placed for the X50i w/m-sport, upgraded wheels, premium sound, convenience, multi-contour seats and other options... even added the spare tire.

total came out to under $69k w/incentives..

had 3 dealers commit to this price. The original dealer I purchased my 08 3.0 from couldn't even come close and basically told me to see them.

I did and placed my order! now i'm tracking the build online

do your research, stand firm, they will negotiate.. they need the business.

Find another dealer, you should expect to pay between 500-1000 more than INVOICE. Any more you are not getting a deal.

Though from having worked at a dealership before, I do know they have to charge everyone the same fees or open themselves up to a class action lawsuit.

And OP, BMW has never made a V6 engine, and it's not by accident either

Bottom Line, you do your research so you know what you're buying. If you say you want a V6, you've tipped them off that you don't know what you're talking about.

Next is to get the concept out of your head that you ask them what they can sell the car to you for and you own the concept of what you are going to pay to own the car, and as has been said in this thread, you stick to it and find the dealer who wants your business and understands how you are going to purchase the car. Don't ask, tell!

And I have never heard of any dealer paying taxes. Taxes are taxes.

You may want to bring someone with you who has purchased several cars from dealers and who has your interests as their priority.

With regards to the fees, Im OK with the Official Fees. But is it true what theyre saying about the DOC STAMP RATE?

Im also getting various Dealer Fees ranging $289-$589, which I'm guessing is the usual.

"Lease cars cost more to register and renew registration because of the taxing structure in Section 320.08(6)(a) Florida Statutes, which states motor vehicles "For Hire" under 9 passenger pay $17.00 flat fee plus $1.50 per cwt (100 pounds)."

Interestingly, there are pages of net links about the Doc Fee rip in FL, and other states. It seems there is a 'doc fee', but couldn't find what that basic fee/cost is to a dealer; thus, some dealers will try and charge any number they can, as there is no upper limit. Several anecdotal links about buyers telling the dealer they will only pay a hundred or couple hundred bucks, after final price/cost/payments are agreed to...

1, DonFlo- they are definitely scrwing you. The junk fees (Doncha Love Florida) of 589 and 450 are just them taking an EXTRA $1000 from you.

2. Do yourself a GREAT favor: Contact a dealer sponsor here or on bimmerfest.com. Cut a deal for invoice plus 500-1000 (and YOU keep any incentives OFF that) and buy it from them as a Perfromance CEnter Delivery. They can be in any state! You'll automatically save the $450 every FL dealer takes from buyers...and you just fly/train up to Spartanburg, spend a night, tour the factory and drive home.

The Department has received your email concerning the application of documentary stamp tax when it involves vehicle purchases. You have also asked who would be responsible for the tax the dealer or buyer.

Section 201.08(1) (a) & (b), Florida Statutes, provides that for a written obligation to pay money that is made, executed, delivered, sold, transferred, or assigned in the State and for each renewal of the same, the tax shall be 35 cents on each $100 or fraction thereof of the indebtedness or obligation evidenced thereby.

12B-4.002 (1), (a), Florida Administrative Code, states: Liability for tax is payable by any of the parties to a taxable transaction. The parties to the transaction may agree among themselves as to who shall pay the tax, but such agreements do not relieve the others from their liability in the event the agreement is not followed.


Yeah site sponsors or out-of-state dealers are next on my list. I have no trouble walking away from any of the ones Ive already emailed, thanks to the info you all have given me.
