2012 X5 50i - Warning "Engine Hot" at start-up

Folks,

In the event any of you have similar issues, I thought I'd let you all know I recently got the subject message on my new 50i. Turns out one of the coolant pumps for the turbo failed.

Fixed under warranty.

i'm still waiting for my 50i.. should be getting it within two weeks..

i will keep that in mind...

is that all it sais? "engine hot"

how long did you wait for the fix? was it a special order replacement part?

it would suck if after waiting 4-5 weeks to get the new ride I had to take her back for a much needed repair job, and probably waiting another few more days because they didn't have the part in stock...

not a good way to start a new relationship!

I dropped it off @ 8AM, got a 35d 3-series loaner (a ton of fun btw) and have my X5 back by 2PM.

Also, this happened with just 3500 miles and the service folks said they'd never seen it happen before.

wow... at least they were able to identify and fix it right on the spot..

love those loaners... gives you a chance to try out other vehicles..I've had X3s, 5 series, and even a 750Li once and boy it was huge...but I was too far from home to really enjoy it and had no real place to go... ended up going to the local mart to grab a sandwich and pretty much hung out in the parking lot till they were finished with the truck..

glad they fixed you up... now you can finally enjoy it!

I wound up having this same issue right after they replaced all 8 injectors.
I went to pick it up and when I started it got the engine hot warning.

Dealer ordered the part yesterday and should have it back today. Bummer they couldn't get me another loaner but they rented me a Camry from Enterprise...lol
