^^ looks like OP is at 39k and has not had his done yet. I estimate he will need one brake job by the time he gets to the end of the ext. maintenance.

(Two full front and rear brake jobs in a two year period seems steep... you running 40k a year? )

Ha no. I bought mine with 15K miles on it Oct '10 and have 30K on it now--they did the fronts/rears when they CPO'd it. And I just had the fronts done with the rears showing about 7K miles left. So, I figure rears done this Fall, fronts Summer '13, rears Spring '14 and it will be really close on the fronts again by Aug '14 when my Extended Maintenance expires.

I had the same problem with my warranty, it said there was 6k both front and rear, took it to the dealer said that my brakes were squeaking and that my wheel would pull under braking. They replaced the pads both front and back.

Wow, so between the new pads at 15k when CPOd and now at 30K youve done a set of pads???? Down to the sensor/CBS says 'new pads'??? Impressive.

Anyway, to the OP- this kind of calculus, where you are now in time & miles and how wonr the padsare, and where you'll be at 4 years and then two years later, will let you pencil out MAINTENANCE costs. MAINTENENCE is easy, you know what is required, what it will cost. Oil, filters, brake fluid and coolant (the latter every 2 and 3 years respectively)...plus the pads we are discussing. (keep in mind YOU should be able to get brake and coolant done under the 4 year plan and really not need to do it again. Maybe a brake flush at the end.)

Just the fronts have been replaced at 30K miles--rears not for another 6 months or so looks like. SA says they see a lot more of the fronts getting worn here more than rears + remember here in TX in the Summer with the heat (53 days of 100+ degree temps last year) probably puts more stress on them.

I am at 39k miles now and the warranty will expire on 8/26/12. The computer showing now 8k left to rear brake and 16k left to front brake. As I am driving about 900 miles per month which means i will not able to reach 8k miles before the warranty expires.
The way I calculate my next two year maintenance (after my warranty exprie) is that front and rear brake job need to be done and STEALER told me around $800 for front (Not sure if it is inclduing rotor). Front and rear will be $1600 plus oil changes etc would come up about $2k - $2.2k. That is why I am thinking exteneded maintenance may be worth under $2k???

The extended maintenance would not be worth if they change the rear brake pad before its exprie.

Did you get to 39k with no brake pads at all??? (ie they are all original)

Call a few indys and ask what they charge for pad and rotor change. (Keeping in mind that you can buy BMW parts for $400 per axle.)

Never changed before!

$400 per axle means front or rear side? Is $400 including Rotor x 2 and pads from BMW parts? URL?

Since you are in Northern California so do I. Did you have any indys or you got it done under maintenance warranty?
