AWD and DSC malfunction

So does anyone know why this is happening? The SA suggested battery issue but after mentioning that the first warning popped up after going around a turn he then wasn't sure. He told me it wasn't from having the gear shifter replaced. Searched the forum but found limited info.

Did you need to replace alternator and battery?

Did they forget to plug something back in in your recent shifter replacement?

that was the first thing the SA mentioned to me when I called!! I mean, that it was nothing the tech did because he drove my X for 10 miles and no codes came up and that the shifter would not cause that.

Same thing happened to me! One DME, Cas module, new shift knob, 2 batteries and 1 month later ...all fixed. I had a lot of other things too like the clock resetting, comfort access not working, radio stations resetting etc...

Holy crap!! I've always had issues with the radio stations and side mirrors resetting but they never replaced the battery. The gear shifter was completely new. It will be interesting to see what they say sometime next week. I mean, I get to take it in tomorrow but they will keep it all week prob

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT pay the $500 the dealer will probably charge for the battery.... lots of options.

You dont list a model or year...how old is the battery?

They wanted to charge me 400 bucks but I was able to get it under warranty after explaining I knew about the history of these issues and BMW shouldn't pass those cost to customers.

To be accurate, YOU had a long history of battery discharge warnings, fix attempts, return visits, etc, etc.

The poster in this thread may NOT- and indeed may just have a worn out battery not due to any particular underlying fault.

OP also may have an Extended Warranty (EW) which will surely not want to cover a battery, which is almost always excluded. (Unless there is another provable fault that killed the battery.)
